Ireland West Motorhomes Hire, terms for campervan rental:
RESERVATIONS
An initial non refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation.This can be paid by Visa or Master Card.
A second stage payment of euro 250 per week is taken shortly after booking confirmation as a separate transaction. This can be paid by credit card, laser card ,bank draft, postal order.
The remaining balance is due in full, 30 days before the commencement of hire.
For more immediate/short notice bookings the balance will be required at time of booking in a second stage payment process.
CANCELLATION
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
When 45 days notice is given of cancellation a further euro 100 of the booking deposit is retained.
When 45 to 31 days notice is given the second stage payment is forfeited.
ALTERING A BOOKING
Subject to administration fee of 30 euro.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.
DELIVERY AND RETURN OF VEHICLE
Pick up times are after 3.00PM and return time before 11.00AM (unless otherwise arranged).
Vehicles can only be returned to our home base unless otherwise agreed.
Late return of vehicle will incur a charge of euro 50 per hour or part of unless prior agreement with Ireland West Motorhomes is obtained.
Returns to a location not agreed in writing will be subject to a loss of security deposit
There shall be no refunds for early return.
SECURITY DEPOSIT
The hirer must secure security deposit of euro 1000 before taking the camper on hire. This deposit is secured against damage caused by hirer. This includes loss of mirrors, skylights, window or windscreen damage, tyre damage, and any damage to camper body. The deposit can only be accepted as cash or by making credit card details available. The card will only be debited in the event that the motorhome is not returned as hired. Ireland West Motorhomes reserve the right to debit the hirers card for the full amount on hiring the motorhome and refund the card on return.
Ireland West Motorhomes reserve the right to retain a euro 150.00 cleaning fee if the motorhome is not returned with the interior in a clean condition. Also the toilet and waste water tank must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle.
The camper must be returned with a full fuel tank (Unless otherwise agreed with Ireland West Motorhomes).
The security deposit will not be charged when the vehicle is returned at the conclusion of the rental, provided that
No damage to motorhome or any third party
Motorhome vacated on time, clean, refueled & toilet emptied
No additional costs have been incurred during the period of rental (see below)
The hirer shall be liable for any expenses or costs incurred through violation of traffic laws or regulations including tolls. Ireland West Motorhomes reserves the right to increase the security deposit for specific events eg: festivals or rallies
CLEANING CHARGE
The hirer is liable to pay a cleaning charge which is will be refunded when the Motorhome is returned clean internally together with the toilet also emptied and cleaned. If the cleaning requirements are not met the cleaning charge of e100 is deducted from the security deposit.
Cleaning Requirements: It is recommended you visit a campsite on your last night of travel to empty the toilet cassette. Refund is approved when each of the following has occurred. Cleaning accessories are located in the cabinets or storage area's 1. Toilet cassette emptied, rinsed and refilled with chemical. 2. Interior floor swept and clean. 3. Dashboard and interior surfaces clean 4. Fridge emptied and clean. 5. Bathroom and toilet clean. 6. Kitchen clean. Equipment An inventory of the equipment necessary for you to enjoy your holiday will be furnished and checked with you at the start and end of the hire period. You are required to sign for these before and after your rental. An additional fee of euro 100 will be charged against the deposit if the toilet and waste tank are not emptied prior to the return of the vehicle
VEHICLE DAMAGE - INSURANCE COVER
The Vehicle is insured for damage to the Vehicle and the property of a third party. The insurance has an excess of euro 1600. The hirer is responsible for any damage up to the excess amount where the hirer is the responsible party in an accident. The security deposit of euro 1000 can be used against this excess in the event of damage caused to the vehicle or that of a third party.
Fully comprehensive insurance is provided by Ireland West Motorhomes to the driver named on the agreement holding a UK/ROI/EU driving Licence. The insurance policy has an excess, that is, clients are responsible for the first euro 1600 of damage or non rental.
Insurance for the named driver holding a non-UK/ROI/EU driving license will be charged at an additional euro 15 per day
Insurance for one only additional driver is charged at additional euro 12.5 per day
This does not cover cost for replacement or repair of windows, tyre damage or incorrect refuelling (eg: putting petrol into diesel tank) for which the hirer is responsible Driving by an unauthorised driver invalidates insurance. It is a criminal offence to drive without insurance in the UK and Ireland and is punishable at law
Failure to declare an accident is a criminal offence and is punishable at law
The theft of an Ireland West Motorhomes campervan/motorhome will not be covered by insurance if the ignition keys are left in or on the vehicle whilst unoccupied and the hirer shall be held fully responsible for a replacement vehicle.
All accidents involving a third party, details on the third party must be furnished when the vehicle is returned.
Personal property is not covered while vehicle is unattended.
The hirer is responsible for the amount of the caution deposit for damage to the motorhome or any third party and associated costs including recovery.
ROAD RESTRICTIONS
All Vehicles may only be driven on sealed / bitumen roads. The Camper must not travel through the area known as the Connor Pass in Kerry. Insurance is void on the Connor Pass.
VIOLATIONS OF TRAFFIC LAWS AND REGULATIONS
Driver(s) are personally liable for all legal penalties and fees pertaining to any traffic violation infringements under the current Road Traffic Legislation applicable in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Ireland West Motorhomes will hold your credit card details for 21 days after the rental agreement finishes in case any traffic violation infringements are presented to Ireland West Motorhomes for your hire period. The driver(s) will still be liable for any penalties and fees received after this period.
Ireland West Motorhomes will notify the driver(s) of any speeding or parking fines and an administration charge of euro 10 for each infringement incurred throughout the hire period.
ALTERATIONS TO THE VEHICLE
The hirer shall not make any alterations or additions to the Vehicle without the prior consent of Ireland West Motorhomes.
USE OF THE VEHICLE
During the rental period, the hirers agree that the vehicle will not be:
Driven other than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner or used in a manner which could cause damage
Driven in a prohibited area
Driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law
Driven by persons under the age of 25 or who is unauthorised to drive the vehicle as set out under the heading 'Driver details' of the Ireland West Motorhomes Rental Agreement
Used to carry more persons than is detailed on the rental agreement
(a maximum 4 persons in accordance with provision of seatbelts in a 4 berth Camper and a maximum 6 persons in accordance with provision of seatbelts in a 6 berth Camper)
Left with the ignition key in or on the vehicle while it is unoccupied (invalidates insurance)
Damaged by submersion in water or in contact with salt water
Used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest
Used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward
Used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material
Driven on any road surfaces other than sealed / bitumen roads. Driving is not permitted on the Connor Pass, County Kerry or on any beaches.
ACCIDENTS
It is the hirers responsibility to complete the accident form where an accident occurs and to notify Ireland West Motorhomes. Where any person is injured the Police/Garda Siochana must be contacted. Failure to report an accident or damage to Ireland West Motorhomes can result in the loss of all or part of the security deposit. In the event of damage, breakdown or an accident NOT due to hirer negligence which deprives the hirer of the complete use of the vehicle, the liability of Ireland West Motorhomes shall be limited to the refund of rental charges for any days lost. Hirer is not entitled to a replacement vehicle in cases of excessive misuse or negligent damage.
PETS & SMOKING
The hirer will not allow smoking in the vehicle. The hirer will not allow pets in the motorhome (can be allowed with prior permission in exceptional cases). Cleaning fee of euro 150 applied for motorhome returned requiring valeting due to soiling by pets or evidence of smoking inside the motorhome.
PASSENGERS
Ireland West Motorhomes authorises the use of these vehicles up to the stated number of passengers, i.e. the number of safety restraints provided. Each person is to use the safety restraints provided at all times whilst vehicle is in motion.
RESPONSIBILITY WHEN ACCIDENT OCCURS
In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, the hirer must notify Ireland West Motorhomes within 24hrs of the happening of the event. Obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses and report the event to the nearest police station. The hirer should not make any admission of liability to other parties, settlement offer or other like offer. The hirer should assist Ireland West Motorhomes in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence. The hirer acknowledges that the excess or other amount due in respect of any damage arising from an accident, loss or damage is payable at the time of reporting the event and not at the completion of the rental period. The hirer will pay for any costs relating to the delivery of a change over vehicle as a result of an accident regardless of which party is at fault.
TERMINATING THE AGREEMENT
The hirer acknowledges that Ireland West Motorhomes may terminate this Agreement and repossess the Vehicle at any time, and that the hirer will pay the reasonable costs of repossessing the Vehicle, including towing charges if; the hirer is in breach of any term of this Agreement; the hirer has obtained the Vehicle through fraud or misrepresentation; The Vehicle appears to be abandoned; The Vehicle is not returned on the agreed return date or Ireland West Motorhomes reasonably believes that the Vehicle will not be returned on the agreed return date; Ireland West Motorhomes considers on reasonable grounds, that the safety of passengers or the condition of the Vehicle is endangered. The hirer understands that in the event of such termination or repossession, The hirer has no right to a refund of any part of the rental charges or the Security Deposit.
Ireland West Motorhomes reserve the right to cancel the booking for any reason it deems necessary without giving any explanation.
CHANGE OF VEHICLE
Ireland West Motorhomes reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to substitute a comparable Vehicle for the Vehicle. In that event, the hirer shall not be liable for any increased rental or other charges save for any addition running costs pertaining to the substitute vehicle. Such substitution shall not entitle me to any refund and does not constitute a breach of this Agreement. The vehicle may be right or left hand drive.
RELEASE AND INDEMNITY OF IRELAND WEST MOTORHOMES.
Subject to its obligation to deliver the Vehicle or an appropriate substitute vehicle, The hirer releases Ireland West Motorhomes, its employees and agents, from any liability to the hirer (regardless of who is at fault) for any loss or damage incurred by the hirer by reason of this Agreement, including but not limited to: Any loss or damage caused by breakdown, mechanical defect, accident or the Vehicle being unsuitable for my purpose; Any loss or damage to any property left in or on the Vehicle, in any service vehicle or on any Ireland West Motorhomes premises or recovered or handled by Ireland West Motorhomes. Subject to any insurance arrangements agreed with Ireland West Motorhomes, The hirer hereby indemnify and shall keep indemnified Ireland West Motorhomes, its employees and agents against any claims, demands and expenses (including legal costs) incurred or sustained by them or any of them by reason of the hirers use and/or possession of the Vehicle.
TITLE TO VEHICLE
The hirer acknowledges that Ireland West Motorhomes retains title to the Vehicle and that the hirer possess the goods as a mere bailee only. The hirer does not have any right to pledge Ireland West Motorhomes credit in connection with the Vehicle and agree not to do so. The hirer shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Vehicle.
CHANGES
Any changes to this agreement must be in writing and must be signed on behalf of Ireland West Motorhomes and by the hirer.
PROPER LAW
This agreement shall be governed by the National Law in which this agreement was signed.
AVAILABILITY AND CONDITIONS OF SUPPLY
Whilst every effort will be made to supply the model ordered, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle should circumstances dictate.
Ireland West Motorhomes shall make every effort to ensure that the vehicle you reserve is available at the agreed time. If for any reason it is not available, we shall endeavor to make another vehicle available without extra cost. BUT if this is not acceptable or another vehicle proves unobtainable, our liability is limited to the refund on any monies paid.
Ireland West Motorhomes will not supply a replacement vehicle in the event of crash damage to the vehicle, or any damage as a result of driver negligence
The company's camper van rental agreement is the sole contract for hiring the vehicle between Ireland West Motorhomes and the hirer(s), driver(s) and/or passenger(s) The company takes no responsibility for any delay, loss, damage or injury that a hirer might experience no matter how it is caused or by whom.
HIRER / DRIVER
Driver(s) must be aged over 25 years to 70 years
Driver(s) must hold a valid full driving licence for at least 3 years (UK Licence) or 24 months (European Licence)
Driver(s) are personally liable for all legal penalties during hire period
Driver(s) must provide two separate forms of personal identification on collection of vehicle otherwise hire will be invalidated i.e.: valid passport and driving licence.
Details of all additional driver(s) must be provided on collection of vehicle as above, maximum of one additional driver charged at euro 10 per day
CANCELLATION BY IRELAND WEST MOTORHOMES
Ireland West Motorhomes reserve the right to cancel a reservation at the proposed commencement of hire as follows:
Named Driving License is not produced or valid in accordance with stated conditions
Failure to provide funds for insurance excess and caution bond by credit card only
Over occupancy of vehicle
Address on driving license does not match billing address if additional proof of id is required
Hirers from outside UK must provide a valid passport and driving license as proof of id
Driver fails to show competency in test drive of vehicle.

In these circumstances all moneys paid by the hirer shall be forfeited. Ireland West Motorhomes reserves the right to refuse to hire to any person, without stating cause. Booking deposit may be refunded in this case.
COMPLAINTS
If any faults or damage to the vehicle are discovered after the rental period commences please notify Ireland West Motorhomes by phone. Faults or damage must be reported at the latest on the return of the vehicle. In the event that a complaint is not satisfactorily resolved upon return, the client must inform Ireland West Motorhomes in writing within 14 days.
ENTIRE AGREEMENT
This agreement constitutes the entire agreement of the parties and there are no other oral undertakings, warranties or agreements between the parties relating to the subject matter of this agreement. Ireland West Motorhomes reserves the right to add or amend any rental charges without prior notice. Ireland West Motorhomes reserve the right to adjust hire rates at any time. Quotes will be valid for two weeks unless a holding deposit is paid. The price will then be fixed at the agreed rate as detailed on your confirmation of booking and invoice.
FAQ
Operating the Motorhome and it’s facilities
I have never driven a Motorhome before, is it difficult to drive?
Ireland West Motorhomes are very easy to drive once you get used to their size - it’s just like driving a ford transit van with a box on the back! It has power steering, right hand drive and manual transmission making it very similar to your own vehicle.
What about all the appliances, e.g. heater, cooker, shower, toilet etc. How do I use these?
Again, everything is easy to operate and you will be given a detailed demonstration of everything you need to enjoy a special ‘Holiday on Wheels’. You will not be allowed to leave base until you have a full understanding of the workings of all appliances. Please allow approx. 1 hour upon collection for a detailed tour of the vehicle.
What's included?
Our campervans are fitted out to the highest standards, and we provide lots of everyday necessities. These include:

How many people can travel in the camper van?
Our 6/7 berth camper vans have seat belts for six.
Our 4 berth camper vans have seat belts for four.
Irish law states that everyone travelling in a Motorhome must be seat belted at all times when travelling. Failure to do so may also void any insurance claim.
How do I heat the Motorhome?
There is gas central heating and an electric blow heater provided for your comfort.
Insurance & Licence Requirements
What driving licence do I need to drive in Ireland?
A valid/full, (b) licence is all you need to drive any vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes.
Hirers who do not possesss an Irish or UK licence are subject to additional loading of the insurance.

What about Insurance?
We provide fully comprehensive insurance, included in the prices, while you are on your holidays.
Can I add another driver to the insurance?
Yes, the first drivers insurance is covered in the rental charge and a second driver can be added at a cost of 12.5 Euro per day.
Can I transfer my private insurance to the camper van?
A few insurance companies will allow you to do this. If this is possible, it would mean a saving of euro 40 per day.
Check with your insurance company for details. Written confirmation would need to be with us, no less than 30 days before the commencement of rental.
Can I drive in the U.K on this insurance?
Yes, this insurance covers driving in Ireland and the U.K. European driving is subject to a euro 10 per day surcharge
Is there any age restrictions to driving a camper van?
Yes, only drivers between 25yrs and 70yrs can drive our Motorhomes.
The cost of my holiday
How much does it cost to hire your camper van/Motorhomes/RV.
Our vehicles are available from as little as 125 Euro per day (insurance included in this price)
Do the Motorhomes use much diesel?
The engine is very economical. Expect to use a much diesel as the standard 1.6ltr or 2.ltr car. Our Motorhomes run on diesel only.
Booking details
Can I hire your Motorhome for a weekend?
Yes, our motorhomes have a minimum hire duration of 3 days.
Restrictions? - although not many, there are some
Can I smoke in the Motorhome?
Absolutely not !!! At least euro 100 will be deducted from your security deposit if any trace of smoking in side Motorhome is found when returned.
Are pets allowed in your Motorhome?
No pets allowed! We are pet lovers ourselves but we must respect our customers/future hires who may suffer from allergies etc. A cleaning/Valet charge of at least euro 100 will be deducted from your security deposit if any trace of a pet been inside the Motorhome is observed upon your return.
Travel arrangements
What do I do with my own vehicle while I'm away?
We offer free secure parking at our base for your vehicle. Free parking is at owners risk.
Do you arrange collection at airports/train stations
Yes we can arrange collection as airports - please let us know what airport/train station you will be arriving at and we can arrange or recommend the best option.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
